Update on Sarah from Gina

Talked to Gina late last night, they believe the seizure was due to extreme hypoglycemia. She will have to start waking up at 2am to check her blood sugar until the endocrinologist can get an idea of what they can do to adjust her meds. Everyone is wrung out from the experience and says thank you for all the prayers and messages.

Prayer Request - Sarah Brookshire

Jenn here -
Got a call from Gina this morning, Sarah had a seizure about 6AM. They're at New Milford Hospital. She'd been complaining of headaches for a couple of weeks, but they wrote it off to new glasses with a much stronger prescription. They've checked her blood sugar and all that, and nothing's amiss there, so still a mystery.
As you can imagine, they're very scared, so any reaching out will be appreciated, and of course, all our prayers are needed.

Need a substitute

Hello, Homebuilders -

This is John. Karen and I just discovered that she is scheduled to work both the nursery and the fifth grade Sunday school (yikes!). To solve this crunch, she'll do the nursery and I'll teach the fifth graders.

This Sunday is Food Sunday, so our lesson (if we have one) is usually short. Can anyone do a "one-hit-wonder" this Sunday, and I'll continue on Oct. 9th?

Thanks!

- John

Service project

Dear friends we have a new opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ.
An elderly couple needs some help with clean up from the tornado damage.
He said it would mostly be racking up the remnants of having trees and stumps removed from his property.
So there will be things that the younger ones can assist with.
If you only have one or two members of your family that can help, we can set up a car pool from church.
If there is any interest in car pooling we will meet at the church at 8:15, and be on site at 9:00.
Please let us know if you can help with this project.
The address is 3211 Archer Lane which is off Dalton Pike.
My cell # is 303-6117, Julies is 303-6116

God Bless,
Dave Klohs

Prayer request - Kelley Massey

Got this message from Kelley this afternoon - she asked me to share with the class:
Last Monday, my Dad found out that he has a mass where his esophagus meets his stomach.  He has been having trouble eating for a few weeks, had it checked and the doc ordered a scope.  They told him that is was most likely cancer.  We got confirmation today that it is indeed cancer.  HOWEVER...it is VERY small and as far as they can tell on the CT scan it has not spread at all.

He is in the process of obtaining an appointment at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando. He plans to have his surgery there. It is a comprehensive center and incorporates nutritional and spiritual counseling in addition to the physical treatment plan.  His doctor here believes that after it is removed, the Center may or may not recommend chemo or radiation. He believes the prognosis is excellent.

While no diagnosis of cancer is good, we are thrilled that the news was best case scenario as opposed to worse case (which with esophageal cancer is indeed the very worst.)

He didn't want us to share the news until he had confirmation. That is why I haven't told you earlier.

Just wanted to let you guys know what is going on. The news will most likely be "on the street" tomorrow since he's given us the go ahead to share.

Just please keep him in your prayers.  :-)

An Ed report

I (John) and the kids went to pay a call on Ed today at Erlanger. We got there a little before lunch. He seemed tired, perhaps a bit groggy, but otherwise alright. A good night's rest has been elusive for him. Ed said there was a good chance (emphasis on "chance") he could be discharged later in the day.

Update on Ed from Fred and Jan

Here's the email Jan sent to Caryl:
Just so you know, the flowers are lovely. I don't think he was in the best of moods to appreciate them but he is making progress, Kathy loved them.

We just got in and they did get a progress report from the Infectious Disease doc. He said the cultures were not growing anything. His blood pressure was dangerously high, his fever was high but all are beginning to come down. He is not as dopey as he had been last night but has not slept in two days. The doctor feels this was a reaction to the PICC line and too much antibiotic. His body just said ENOUGH! He will not consider releasing him until at least Thursday but feels like his body will take over now and start its way back to normal and we pray that is so. Meals have been coming in and are wonderful and so much help, thanks to everyone involved. Kathy has been off work and I know she is worn out, they did not get Ed into a room last night until 1:30AM. Get her to tell you about their ER experience, it was entertaining to say the least. Ed will no doubt have stories to tell about it when he feels better. To God be the Glory for his recovery. Love ya lots, Jan and Fred

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Ed is in Room 3037 at Erlanger, he has his cellphone. They've ruled out bacterial infection in the blood, diabetes, pulmonary embolism... Are looking at viral infection now. Deanna Harrell is coordinating meals, we are covered through Thursday, let Deanna know if you can help. Prayers always welcome!

Pray for Ed

Just got word that Ed Stutzman's infection has not improved and that he has been admitted to Erlanger. Please pray for Ed's healing. Will keep you posted.
